Javier is an associate in the firm’s Chicago office, where he advocates on behalf of individuals and families affected by asbestos exposure. Javier’s practice centers on toxic tort litigation, particularly cases involving mesothelioma, lung cancer, and other asbestos-related diseases. Known for his dedication to plaintiffs’ advocacy, he believes in the importance of understanding each client’s unique story to provide powerful and zealous representation in the pursuit of justice.
Prior to joining MRHFM, Javier served as a staff attorney and judicial law clerk on the “J1” Asbestos Litigation Calendar under the Honorable Clare E. McWilliams (Ret.) at the Circuit Court of Cook County, Illinois, where he gained a foundational knowledge and understanding of asbestos litigation, from managing hundreds of active cases to crafting judicial opinions. Later, he practiced at a prominent plaintiffs’ personal injury firm in the Chicagoland area, where he worked on high-stakes civil rights cases involving allegations of police misconduct, wrongful death, and institutional negligence.
Of note, Javier played a key role as a member of plaintiffs’ counsel in the cases of Tyre Nichols and Botham Jean. Additionally, he represented survivors in the Northwestern University football team hazing litigation, underscoring his commitment to seeking justice and accountability for those affected by systemic abuse and institutional misconduct across diverse practice areas.
Javier’s achievements have earned him recognition as a 2024 Illinois Rising Star by Super Lawyers® (an honor awarded to only 2.5% of Illinois attorneys), and, in 2024, he was selected by his peers for inclusion in the fifth edition of Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch® in America for his experience in the following categories: “Mass Tort Litigation / Class Actions – Plaintiffs” and “Personal Injury Litigation – Plaintiffs.” Additionally, he was honored as a Marquis Who’s Who Biographical Listee in 2020 and received the Silver Shield Award from Evangel University in 2013.
